Working Out
I know firsthand how tough it can be to stay active while working long hours behind a desk. After nearly a decade in corporate America, I found myself craving movement, sunlight, and a sense of balance that office life rarely provided. Between long commutes, packed calendars, and Boston’s harsh winters, carving out time for meaningful workouts felt nearly impossible.
That’s why I created Sledge and Forge Fitness — an outdoor training space designed to help people get strong, feel energized, and reconnect with movement in the fresh air. Our workouts aren’t about mindlessly grinding through reps; they’re about building functional strength that carries over into everyday life. You’ll swing sledgehammers, move kettlebells, press barbells, and challenge your body with dynamic bodyweight movements — all in a way that’s challenging, fun, and empowering.
I’ve been training for over 15 years and coaching for the last 5, with a passion for helping people move better, feel better, and live stronger. Whether you’re stepping into fitness for the first time or searching for something more engaging than a traditional gym, my mission is to help you find confidence, resilience, and joy in training outside — where it feels real.
About Me
I grew up in Glenview, Illinois, and for the past 10 years I’ve made Somerville, MA my home. At heart, I’ve always been a creative — I love painting and drawing, drumming, experimenting in the kitchen, and I’m especially passionate about pickling just about every vegetable you can imagine.
Alongside that, I’ve always valued movement. Growing up, I played basketball and football, and while competition was a big part of those years, what really stuck with me was the teamwork, discipline, and energy that now influence how I coach and connect with others.
Outside of work, I’m a proud husband and the lifelong best friend of Bear, my 15-year-old Alaskan Malamute/Lab mix who’s been with me through almost every chapter so far.
Values
At my core, I believe in progress over perfection — that showing up consistently matters more than chasing quick wins. Fitness, for me, is about building resilience, balance, and confidence that carry into everyday life. I value creativity not just in my art and cooking, but in the way I design workouts that keep training fresh and engaging. Above all, I believe movement should feel empowering and fun, a practice that reminds us we’re capable of more than we think, both inside and outside the gym.
